RegDrop is a new way to buy a private registration. Instead of paying a fixed advertised price, you can watch the price fall and decide when to claim it.
Wait longer and you could pay less—but every registration is unique, so someone else could claim it first.
1. Find your plate
Search millions of available private registrations using names, initials, words, dates or meaningful combinations.
When you find one you like, open its page to see its current live price, starting price and lowest possible price.
2. Watch the price fall
Each registration begins at a set starting price and gradually becomes cheaper.
The live price continues to fall until one of two things happens:
- Someone claims the registration
- The price reaches its lowest point
There are no bids, offers or traditional auctions. Everyone sees the same live price.
3. Choose your moment
You are in control of when you buy.
Claiming early gives you a better chance of securing the registration. Waiting could give you a lower price, but someone else may purchase it while you wait.
Because every registration is unique, once it has been claimed, it is gone.
4. Lock in the current price
When the price feels right, select Claim This Plate and complete checkout.
The registration is only secured once your payment has been successfully completed. Adding it to your basket does not reserve it.
Your order total will be clearly displayed before payment, including the registration, VAT where applicable, the compulsory £80 DVLA transfer fee and any optional extras.
5. We take care of the paperwork
Once your order is confirmed, we arrange the official DVLA registration certificate.
You will receive updates as your order progresses, and we will let you know when your certificate is ready.
You can then assign the registration to a suitable vehicle or keep it on its certificate until you are ready to use it.
6. Put it on your vehicle
The registration must be officially assigned before you display it on your vehicle.
Your vehicle must meet the DVLA’s eligibility requirements, and a registration cannot be used to make a vehicle appear newer than it really is.
If you order physical number plates, we will need to verify the required identification and entitlement documents before they can be manufactured and dispatched.
What if the price reaches its lowest point?
When a registration reaches its lowest price without being claimed, its price cycle may restart.
If you wait for the lowest price, there is no guarantee the registration will still be available—or that you will see the same price again.
